Making the researcher app AI-native
Respondent's researcher app, reimagined as AI-native
Respondent's researcher product was built around manual setup and third-party tools. I led its redesign into an AI-native experience: a prompt-based project builder, and the first research tool built entirely inside Respondent, AI-moderated interviews.
Chapter 01
The old way: manual setup, scattered tools
Creating a study meant building everything by hand: typing the project name and goals, hand-picking every targeting attribute, and writing screener questions from scratch. Then the research itself happened somewhere else, a survey in Typeform, interviews scheduled in another tool, so the insights never made it back into Respondent.
Chapter 02
A project builder that does the heavy lifting
Instead of a blank form, the researcher starts with intent. From a goal or an uploaded brief, Respondent suggests the project name, the right methodology, who to target, a fair incentive, and a smart screener that knows what to ask to filter the right participants.
The create flow, end to end
From a prompt to a live, recruiting project. Drag to pan, hover any screen for the detail, and click to enlarge.
Hover any screen to read how it works. The flow runs from a written goal to a launched, recruiting project, with Respondent drafting the details along the way.
Chapter 03
AI-moderated interviews, built into Respondent
The first research tool built entirely inside Respondent. Paired with the new create flow, an AI moderator runs the interview, asking questions and intelligent follow-ups, so the researcher no longer needs to sit in every session and can scale to far more interviews. Every transcript and recording feeds straight into high-level reports and analytics.
From recruited to reported
The project detail side: recruitment, AI-run interviews, and the insights they produce. Drag to pan, hover for the detail, click to enlarge.
Hover any screen to read how it works. AI-moderated interviews are captured, reviewed, clustered into themes, and turned into a shareable executive summary.
Chapter 04
Where it landed
The redesign collapses the distance from a research question to a defensible insight: set up in minutes, interviews that run themselves, and analysis that is ready to share.
A project goes from a prompt or brief to a recruiting study in minutes, not an afternoon of manual setup.
AI moderation takes the researcher out of every session, so studies can run far more interviews in parallel.
Recruiting, AI-moderated interviews, transcripts, clips and reports now all live inside Respondent.
